Welcome to Orenda
Welcome to Orenda Canoe Club nestled on the shores of beautiful Lake Echo in Nova Scotia. We are a non-profit, volunteer run paddling club offering canoe and kayak programs to the Lake Echo and area youth and adults.
Our membership ranges around 150 so we are small enough to offer a personal touch yet large enough to offer some fun competitive spirit. Our coaching staff is top notch (many of these young adults are Nationals Champions) and our programs are superb.

Orenda Sponsors
The Orenda Canoe Club is a volunteer run non-profit Club. Sponsor support is invaluable to the Club as it helps us to maintain our equipment and grounds and procure much needed new equipment. Friends of Orenda
So you don't want to paddle yet you like to keep up to date on the goings on at Orenda. You certainly can help the Club with a small annual fee and in return stay updated and invited to our events.
As a non-paddling patron, your membership helps support the equipment and maintenance needs of this non-profit, volunteer run club.
Your membership will keep you up to date on club activities and events. As such, you will be on our e-mail/talk mail list for events and news updates. You will also receive invitations to our club events such as Open House, Awards Banquet, Christmas Party and Annual/Semi-annual Executive Meetings.

What's Happening

Orenda will be accepting resumes from now until May 17th for FIVE summer coaching positions and the position of Club Manager.
Resumes will be accepted only until May 17 and may be emailed to
mzareski@ns.sympatico.ca.
Applicants must have Basic First Aid , ELCC Level ,and a current Boaters Safety Course certificate. Interviews will begin May 23. Only those granted an interview will be contacted.

We're looking forward to our annual Fishing Derby on May 26, 2012. Registration begins at 6:00 am at the club and costs only $10.00 for adults and children under 12 are free.

We're very excited to announce that paddling for adults (aka Masters) will begin Tuesday, May 8th! We are always seeking adults 25 years and older (yes, I mean you!) to come and join us. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!

There is a mandatory Chocolate Bar fundraising effort (per family) for Spring, Summer and Full-Time Members. Mandatory fundraising efforts are a standard practice for members of most private and not-for-profit sports organizations and clubs and your support is greatly appreciated.

Orenda has singlets for sale at the Canoe Club for $30.00. These singlets are worn at regettas throughout the summer. Please contact office for details.

The Orenda documentary video project was recently produced by Duane Lowe of Global Television.
It is an historical short documentary film, with interviews, on how Orenda came to be the power house it is today. It includes five interviews with past Commodores Dwight Corbin and Ralph Orton, Olympian Steve Giles, National Development Team Member John Mayo, and present Head Coach, Corey Firth.

The Executive of the Atlantic Division will have 3 positions open for election at the upcoming Annual General Meeting. These positions are Vice Flag Bantam/Peewee, Vice Flag Midget/Senior and Facilities Chairperson.
