Orenda History Documentary Video | January 3, 2012
The Orenda documentary video project was recently produced by Duane Lowe of Global Television.
It is an historical short documentary film, with interviews, on how Orenda came to be the power house it is today. It includes five interviews with past Commodores Dwight Corbin and Ralph Orton, Olympian Steve Giles, National Development Team Member John Mayo, and present Head Coach, Corey Firth.
The video is comprised of the edited and professionally produced 3 minute show piece, and the 30 minute uncut interviews with those five mentioned above.
The cost to purchase the DVD is $20 each.

Orders for the Orenda track suit or jacket are due by this Saturday, December 3rd. Sorry for the last minute notice, but they are anticipated to be here by Christmas :) if you get your order in by then.
The cost is $120 each. Orders and payments to be made directly to Doug Miles please. If not possible to submit your payment with your order by Saturday...you can submit your payment following to Doug by December 9th at the latest please.
Sizes are Youth - small to extra large, and Adult - small to extra large. Some of the athletes already have the suits and you can ask to try them on for size at the Club, and for the jackets you should go by your usual size.
All orders should be directed to Doug Miles, either by email at doug_miles_9@hotmail.com or you can drop it off to him at the Club along with your payment. If you have any questions, you can text or call his cell at 483-4990.

The track suit jacket will be the burgundy color and the pants are black. The jacket is black.
The Orenda bake table at the Porters Lake Community Centre, Seaside Christmas, this past weekend was a HUGE success! With MUCH thanks to all who volunteered their time to attend the table, and donate all the yummy home-baked goods and items for the Christmas basket raffle.
A special thank you to Janet Forsyth and Wendy Hartlin for organizing everything and putting it all together, and to Sue Abboud for donating the table for the bake sale to Orenda and for initiating this successful fundraising event. This could not have taken place without all of your help and support.
The bake sale raised a profit of $433.20 for Orenda! Definitely a fundraiser worthwhile doing again.
Orenda's AGM will be held on Sunday October 30th, at 1:00 pm in the Orenda Clubhouse.
If you have any topics for discussion that you wish addressed at the AGM, please submit these in writing prior to October 24th to the secretary, Michelle Zareski, michelle@homesinmetro.com.

Awards Presentation & Parent Appreciation BBQ - THANK YOU!
On behalf of the Orenda Executive....A special 'Thank You' to everyone who was able to attend and contribute to this year's Awards Presentation and Parent Appreciation BBQ. Because of you it was a great success!
Thank you to everyone who helped out with everything from food contributions, picking up supplies, setting up chairs and tables, flipping burgers and dogs in the pouring rain!, food service, kitchen clean up, sweeping floors, garbage removal, preparing and presenting the awards, etc. etc.
There were over 100 people in attendance - which has to be a new record ! A good time was had by all.
Congratulations once again to all the award recipients !
Bottle Drives
Orenda holds bottle drives at various times throughout the year which provides a very important source of revenue for upkeep and purchase of new boats and other equipment. We are asking that you focus on the streets in your own area as this was successful in the past and makes it a little easier with busy schedules. Please bring your bottles to the recycle depot in east preston, #7 highway and tell them the bottles are for the Orenda Canoe Club.
Missed one of our bottle drives? You're not too late. Just take your bottles to the Recycle Depot in East Preston and tell them that they are for the Orenda Canoe Club or you can bring them to the club and we will take of them from there!
