Orenda History
We are trying to update our Orenda history. Our history prior to 2000 has been quite well documented but from then onwards we are needing your help. Anyone who has any input into Orenda happenings over the past 10 years is welcome to come forward and tell their tale. Of course we would love to have some photographs to confirm the yarns.
Any memorabilia prior to 2000 would also be welcomed. Maybe our history up until 2000 is not as complete as we thought.
Please contact our present Commodore, Les Mayo at debandles@ns.sympatico.ca or 829-3872 if you have any contributions. If you are submitting pictures please label them. Anything contributed will be returned to its owner.

Paddler Prepped for National Trials
No one could ever accuse Genevieve Orton of resting on her laurels. The Lake Echo kayaker, who turns 26 today, earned two silver medals a year ago on the World Cup circuit, teaming up with three other Canadian women to finish as the runners-up in 500-metre K-4 events in Poland and Hungary.

The Orenda Executive is pleased to announce that our very own Cory Firth, Head Coach at Orenda Canoe Club, has been awarded the 2009 Director Generals's Award. This award is given out annually by the Canadian Canoe/Kayak Association to recognize Coaching Excellence. It is presented to a coach who contributes to the development or advancement of sprint canoe/kayak outside of or in addition to their regular club coaching duties.
We at Orenda wish to congratulate Cory on his outstanding achievement!
Canada Summer Games 2009 Congratuations to Kelsey Cuvelier who won a silver medal at the Canada Games in a C-4 500m boat with a time of 2:04.167.
